ERA Justin Realty's Kristen Davis Brings Focus to Relay for Life

Kristen Davis, ERA Justin Realty teammate participant for the ERA Circle of Light for Community Leadership Award in honor of the company’s consistent commitment to community service is recognized as a philanthropic leader in the areas they serve. They have a legacy of contributing to its local community, as well as national charitable organizations. The firm through Davis continues to uphold its annual commitment to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, contributing time and donations. Davis coordinates the event each year, recently completing its third year of participation at Rutherford's Memorial Field with approximately 1,000 area residents, friends, family and other communities who successfully joined together raising donations.

Kait Chieco who oversees the Rutherford Relay for Life said of Davis and the ERA Justin team, "Relay was a success thanks in part to the generosity and support of your team and brought the support of ERA Justin Realty. Our event welcomed over 1,000 participants and raised more than $77,000 to finish the fight against cancer. We celebrated survivors and caregivers, honored the loved ones lost and played a variety of games and activities. Thank you for your continued support. It's such a pleasure working with you to finish the fight."

ERA Justin Realty continues its fundraising efforts for Relay for Life

 ERA Justin Realty continues its fundraising efforts for Relay for Life 

ERA Justin Realty recently completed its second year of participation with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraiser at Rutherford's Memorial Field with participation of approximately 1,000 area residents, friends, family and other communities who successfully  joined together raising $75,000.00. ERA Justin Realty's teammates coordinated by team leader Kristen Davis brought forth her relay team which consisted of 25 people - Realtors, family members, and friends and raised nearly $3,000.00.  Davis said, "Our team hopes to finish with $5,000.00 as our efforts continue." 

Relay for Life is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk where teams of people camp out around a track. Members of each team take turns walking around the track. Food, games and activities provide entertainment and build camaraderie throughout the evening.  It's a family-friendly environment for the entire community. Because it’s a team event, individual participants are not required to be there the entire time. But it's so much fun, and teammates find it hard to leave. 

During the Survivors Lap, all cancer survivors at the event take the first lap around the track, celebrating their victory over cancer while cheered on by the other participants who line the track. Relay For Life events also recognize and celebrate caregivers, who give time, love, and support to their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers facing cancer. 

Davis continued, "The Luminaria Ceremony takes place after dark, so we can remember people we have lost to cancer, honor people who have fought cancer in the past, and support those whose fight continues. Candles are lit inside of personalized bags and are placed around the Relay track as glowing tributes to those who've been affected by cancer. This emotionally powerful event inspires Relay participants to take action. The Fight Back Ceremony symbolizes the emotional commitment each of us can make in the fight against cancer. The action taken represents what we are willing to do for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for our community to fight cancer year-round and to commit to saving lives." 

In 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5 billion to fight cancer.  

The entire ERA Justin Realtor team of sales agents focus on Relay for Life as well as many other charitable fundraisers each year and have elected to always pay it forward to assist those less fortunate. It has proven successful for the firm as they recently received the esteemed ERA Circle of Light for Community Service Award from approximately 31,000 ERA brokers and agents nationally, the only firm to receive the award, presented Hollywood style at Los Angeles during their Global Business Conference general assembly, attended by thousands of brokers, agents and television celebrities.
